Hands-On With Motorola Defy Phone

Motorola Defy Mobile Phone
The Motorola Defy came out to improve the performance of the Motorola Android phones that were launched before like the Cliq, the Cliq XT and the Charm. Unfortunately, the phones didn't perform as well as expected so they failed to attract the consumers.

Made of special material like a gorilla glass and protected by two-tone hard plastic shell and a latch that is firmly placed onto the phone, the Defy is claimed to resist against water and scratch. Although it lacks the military certification for salt, extreme weather and solar radiation, the Defy becomes one of few rugged smartphones that offer several enhanced features.

If you take a look at the Defy, you immediately notice that it has a similar design to its brother: the Motorola i1. On the front, you find a great 3.7-inch WVGA capacitive screen with 262,000 colors and 480x854-pixel resolution like the Droid and the Droid X. It even employs a gorilla glass to protect the screen from any scratches and dusts.

Although the handset runs Android 2.1 OS in the face of many smartphones coming to market with the Android 2.2, it is not that bad as the phone is still able to perform well and quickly. However, the fans surely expect the phone to be updated to the Froyo as soon as possible.

Other important features are a 5 MP camera with LED flash and auto focus (but lacks dedicated camera), Bluetooth with A2DP support, Wi-Fi, 3G, and GPS with TeleNav support. The 800MHz processor is quite good to run all apps smoothly without necessary pause and lag.

Conclusion
As a mid-range smartphone, the Motorola Defy is perfect handset for the people who like outdoor activities because the device resists against scratch, shock, drop, and water. It is also an affordable handset with such enhanced features. What do you think?
