Sony Mobile has recently unveiled Xperia T, the new flagship droid for the upcoming quarter. Running on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich Xperia T is powered by 1.5 GHz Krait Qualcomm MSM8260A Snapdragon chipset processor and Aderno 225 GPU coupled with 1 GB of RAM. Sony already planned Android 4.1.1 JellyBean upgrade for the droid which is expected to roll out by the end of this year.
Xperia T features 4.55 inch scratch resistant TFT Capacitive touch screen Reality display with impressive resolution support of 720x1280 pixels. Sony increased pixel density to 323 ppi which means display will be brighter and sharper. Built on Sony Timescape UI, Xperia T is powered by Sony Mobile BRAVIA Engine, the same technology used in Sony TV sets. Watch HD movies or play games in wide high resolution display of Xperia T for more entertainment.
Sony Xperia T will be available only in 16 GB storage model and micro SD card slot expandable up to another 32 GB. More storage options, at least 32 GB on board storage would have been better with this flagship droid. In camera segment, Sony Xperia T can challenge other high end droids quite easily. It sports 13 MP Exmor sensor rear camera featured with LED flash, auto focus, face and smile detection, image stabilization etc. Primary camera records full HD quality video at 1080p. Front facing 1.3 MP camera is there in the front panel just above the display. Stream video or images in TV right from your handset using the TV out port. In connectivity segment Xperia T includes Wi-Fi with hotspot, DLNA, Bluetooth, micro USB port and NFC. These are no surprise to us; all these are necessary components. The droid is good enough to hit up to 237 Kbps EDGE speed in 2G network and up to 42 Mbps HSPA+ speed in 3G network. Sony added a 'One Touch connectivity' option in this flagship that uses NFC. Transferring data to and from the handset is as easy as pie.
Sony is also offering 50 GB Dropbox cloud storage without any additional cost. Li-Ion 1850 mAh battery delivers up to 7 hrs of talk time and 450 hrs of standby time. A more powerful battery would have been better with this. In Benchmark Pi, NenaMark 2 and Quadrant benchmark tests Xperia T has done remarkably well. It scored way better than Samsung Galaxy S III, HTC One X, LG Optimus 4X HD. Remember one thing; none of the quad core beasts have used Krait architecture. Thus, Benchmark Pi offered advantages to dual core Xperia T over other quad core power houses. I still believe quad core flagships are better when the question of performance comes to the forefront.
